Description
Storyboard work for a game concept Tokyo Street Pirates. A game about a few geek friends get themselves into a little bit of trouble, but are saved by a strange girl with a mysterious gift. They soon find themselves with the powers they've dreamed about playing video games and living their otaku life styles. What would you do if one day you became what you've always dreamed about?
I thought this concept would fit a traditional arcade platform like the old X-Men, TNMT, Final Fight, and the other 2D side scroller fighter platforms. I had the idea Arc System Works had with Blazblue in the fighter genre, but with the side scroller style. This platform would encourage friends to get together to play the game and enjoy a good pizza together instead of the seclusion of your room alone with virtual "friends".
The game would also explore the various regions around Tokyo, much like Jet Grind Radio did in it's own fantasy way. The purpose of this is not to just encourage gamers to go travel to Tokyo, but to go out on their own adventures and see the world through their own ambitions. Games, books, movies, and television don't always lead to introversion but can be the inspiration to motivate individuals to not only have dreams but reach those destinations.
